The Church: Doing Life Together
C2 Groups are the building blocks of Bridge City. The name C2 is taken from Circle Two, a reference to our ministry strategy, the Ripples. Circle Two is that part of our life as believers that intertwines closely with the lives of others in the Body. This is where the life of the church can most clearly be seen.
C2 Groups are small groups of people who have committed to meeting together weekly in one another's homes for the purpose of being the church. They are the cells that make up the body of Bridge City. In each of these cells, the participants have the opportunity to discover their gifts, minister to one another, encourage each other in the journey as they seek to apply the teaching of Jesus to their daily lives.
Transition Process
In December of 2004 Bridge City began the process of transitioning from a church that was built around a number of programs targeted at different people or life seasons that happened to have a number of classes and small groups as one part of the program, to a church built out of cells. This transition started with one prototype group established for the purpose of exploring the cell group process as a way of taking our church toward more authentic Biblical community. That first prototype ran for four months. When this group had fulfilled its purpose, the initial group members and a number of other people were divided into two groups for the second round of the prototype. Between the two groups 11 families were involved--21 adults and 17 children.
The second round prototypes started in April, 2004 and are still running. These two groups will be the "greenhouse" from which leaders will develop and groups will multiply, until there are cell groups enough for everyone at Bridge City who desires to be a part of one. As of JAnuary of 2008 there are seven cell group with over 60 adults and many children involved.
This page will be the central location for information about the cell groups that are meeting, how you can visit or join one, and the resources necessary for the group leaders. Check back frequently, because this transition is going to bring many changes in the near future.
