New York Overview

New York is great. I would love to just do a road trip dedicated to seeing and exploring New York. I really like the city. Just walking around, seeing street performers, being in a new culture, and interacting with the city.
Central Park was great. We took a carriage ride through and around part of it. I learned some interesting facts. Did you know that only 30% of the trees in Central Park are natural, but the other 70% of them were planted? Crazy eh?
One of my favorites was walking around in time square. There is so much to do there. Street performers, great restaurants, and an amazing cheesecake restaurant. New York cheesecake is soooo good.
New York is really hard to put in a nutshell. Actually, I am pretty positive it won't fit. There is so much to tell, and so little time to tell you. I hope everyone is doing well back at home. We all miss you Mucho Grande!

Quebec Overview

Bonjour from Quebec city! How strange to be so close to the USA, but in such a different culture. We walked into our hotel and the clerk and the desk greets us with Bonsoir (good evening) and we really know that we are not in our country anymore.

Our 2 days in Quebec were made up of exploring this beautiful old city that is the only walled city left in ----- Our second day we were able to go up to an observatory and look over all of Quebec City in a 360 degree view. What struck me were the all the different colors of roofs and the church steeples that stuck out proud, tall and beautiful over the rest of the town around them.

Also on our second day Kevin took us to one of the biggest malls they have us here. As you can imagine all of the girls were very excited!
This mall was so big there was a mini theme park inside (see below) which made up to the guys the fact that they had to walk around a mall for two hours.

After the mall we went to a beautiful water fall that had a bridge you could climb up to. I believe this falls is 1 1/2 times taller than Niagra so we got a little preview for what we will be seeing on saturday.

Well I am off to bed. See you all in a week!!

Boston Overview

Well I am sitting in the white van, in route to Quebec, with 4 amazing girls listening to my American lit class with the sound of laughter in the background all while looking out over the beautiful Vermont landscape and thinking of how lucky I am to attend a school such as Heartlife. I think just how different Heartlife is hit us all over these last 4 days in Boston mostly because of the fact that we were staying in a school and yesterday we sat in one of the classrooms to work on homework for a few hours. I have never had the experience of going to a public school as many of the other Heartlife students have, but it was still a wake up call to me to how lucky we are to go to Heartlife and that we have the opportunity to learn on the road and not in a classroom.

So we spent three days and four nights in the beautiful city of Boston. The first day was pretty relaxed we had to get up and pack our stuff out of the gym because the kids had school. We were then off to the local YMCA where they were generous to give us hot showers. After that we were off to do laundry and lunch at the little 7 11 like shop next door. The day in general was very relaxed, just what we needed.

The next day we went and walked the freedom trail. For those of you who don't know the freedom trail in 2.5 miles of a brick path like thing that leads you to all the of the historic buildings and spaces in Boston. Things like the site of the Boston massacrer and the Old North Church.   It was interesting to think about all the history that had happen on those streets hundreds of years before.

Our last day in Boston we all choices of what staff to go with to see things they wanted to see. I went with John Perry to explore the town of Concord and Walden Pond. Both beautiful places with lots of history and stories of amazing people who fought to free our land and make it the way it is today.

I really enjoyed Boston especially after the rush of NYC. And now on to Quebec and to practice French!
